Cyber Defence Manager

We are looking for an experienced Cyber Defence Manager to take operational leadership of cyber defence and security operations in a complex enterprise environment.

In this role, you will lead and coordinate Security Operations (SOC), drive incident management and threat follow-up, and provide hands-on operational security guidance to technical teams and stakeholders.

You will play a key role in ensuring effective response to security incidents, including taking the lead during P1 and major security incidents when required. You will work closely with internal teams and external service providers, acting as a trusted Subject Matter Expert (SME) within cyber defence and security operations.

A central part of the assignment is to continuously improve operational security capabilities, with particular focus on reducing MTTR (Mean Time to Respond/Recover), strengthening security monitoring and detection coverage, and ensuring that incidents, threats, vulnerabilities and security risks are addressed in a timely and structured manner.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate day-to-day Security Operations (SOC) activities.

Drive security incident management and threat follow-up from detection through resolution.

Lead P1 and major security incidents, including outside normal office hours when required.

Provide operational security expertise, support and guidance to technical teams.

Coordinate security activities across internal teams and external service providers.

Ensure timely follow-up and remediation of incidents, threats and vulnerabilities.

Track security risks, actions and improvement initiatives through to completion.

Drive initiatives to improve MTTR and overall incident response effectiveness.

Improve security monitoring, detection capabilities and coverage.

Act as a Subject Matter Expert and support stakeholders in operational cyber security matters.

Required Experience & Skills

We are looking for someone with:

Strong experience leading and coordinating Security Operations / SOC environments.

Proven experience in security incident management and threat response.

Experience leading P1, critical and major security incidents.

Strong understanding of security monitoring, detection and incident response processes.

Demonstrated experience improving MTTR and operational security performance.

Experience identifying and closing gaps in monitoring and detection coverage.

Ability to drive timely remediation and follow-up of security incidents, threats, vulnerabilities and risks.

Experience coordinating multiple internal stakeholders and external security/service providers.

Ability to provide pragmatic security guidance to technical and operational teams.

Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder-management skills.

Ability to take ownership and maintain structure and momentum during high-pressure security incidents.
