Cookie notice
Last updated: 8 September 2026 · Version 2026-09-08
Farol currently uses only storage that is necessary for security, sign-in, and remembering that you read this notice. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
What is stored
- Framework session cookie — temporary encrypted state for security messages and returning you to the requested page. It expires when the browser session ends.
- session_id — signed sign-in identifier. It cannot be read by JavaScript, uses SameSite=Lax, is sent only over HTTPS in production, and expires after 30 days or when you sign out.
- farol_cookie_notice — remembers that you dismissed this notice for six months. It contains only the notice version.
Why there is no Accept button
Portuguese Law 41/2004 allows storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service the user explicitly requests. Because Farol currently has no optional cookies, asking you to accept them would be misleading. The notice button records only your preference to hide the message.
If optional cookies are added
Analytics, advertising, or other optional storage will remain off until you make a clear choice. Rejecting will be as easy as accepting, consent will be separated by purpose, and you will be able to change it later. This notice and the on-screen controls will identify each provider, purpose, and lifetime before anything optional is stored.
