Terms of service

Last updated: 11 September 2026 · Version 2026-09-11

The short version: we find and explain job openings for you, you decide where to apply, and we do not promise you a job.

Operator and agreement

Farol is operated by TODO legal company or sole-trader name, TODO full geographic address, tax id TODO Portuguese NIF/NIPC, registration TODO commercial register and number, or Not applicable. Contact: hello@faroljobs.com. These terms form the agreement when you create an account.

What Farol does

Farol compares public job postings with the CV or profile and preferences you provide, then shows suggested matches and explanations. You choose whether to apply on the employer's own site. Farol is not an employment agency, does not represent employers, and does not submit applications for you.

Your account and acceptable use

You must be at least 16, provide accurate information, keep credentials secure, and use one personal account. If you are under 18, use Farol with permission from a parent or legal representative; they must approve any paid purchase. Do not upload another person's CV without authority, scrape the service, bypass security, misuse postings, or use output to discriminate or break the law.

Plans and price

Free includes one explained match per day. Shortlist is €4.99 for 30 days and Application is €14.99 for 30 days. Application packs of 10, 25 and 60 tailored CVs cost €4.99, €9.99 and €19.99 and do not expire. Prices are in euros and include VAT where applicable. A plan can be bought two ways, both on Stripe's checkout page. As a monthly subscription by card or SEPA Direct Debit: it renews automatically each month at the same price until you cancel from your account, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid month, and we tell you the renewal terms before you subscribe. Or paid once for 30 days by MB WAY, Multibanco or card: nothing renews, access ends when the 30 days end unless you buy again, in which case the days are added to the end. Packs are always bought once. Checkout shows the total, the period and whether it renews before you order. We send confirmation on a durable medium, normally email.

Usage limits

Every plan has limits, and they are the numbers the service enforces and the pricing page shows. Matches: Free receives one explained match a day; Shortlist and Application receive the full daily shortlist. On-demand checks, where you ask Farol to look again outside the daily run: 1 a day on Free, 5 on Shortlist and 15 on Application. AI readings of your CV or profile text: 2 a day on Free, 5 on Shortlist and 10 on Application. Daily limits count per calendar day, Lisbon time, and do not carry over.

Tailored CVs and application emails: Application includes up to 50 a calendar month, with no daily limit; unused ones do not carry into the next month. Drafting an application email spends one, as a CV does. Free and Shortlist include none; a bought pack gives the number of CVs it says, on any plan, and does not expire. A CV included in the plan is spent before a bought one. A CV that fails on our side is not counted.

Fair use: beyond the limits above there is a daily ceiling on processing cost per account, set well above what a person applying reaches. It exists to stop automated use and errors, not to ration. If you reach it, Farol tells you, and work you bought in a pack stays available. We may change limits; the pricing page always shows the ones in force, and a reduction on a paid plan is announced before the next renewal.

Cancellation and refunds

Cancel a subscription from your account at any time; Stripe's page does it in one click. Cancellation stops the next charge and paid access continues to the end of the month already paid. A plan paid once has nothing to cancel: it ends when the 30 days end. Neither deletes your account.

If you are an EU consumer, you generally have 14 days from the first paid contract to withdraw without giving a reason. If you expressly request service during that period and then withdraw, the law may allow a proportionate charge for what was supplied; the right is lost only after full performance where the legally required prior request and acknowledgement were obtained. To exercise it, email an unambiguous statement to hello@faroljobs.com; we refund sums due within 14 days using the original payment method. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Automated results and no employment guarantee

Matches, eligibility notes, and tailored text are generated automatically and may be wrong, incomplete, outdated, or biased. Check the original posting, salary, location, visa rules, deadlines, and every generated CV before use. Farol does not guarantee that a posting remains open or that you will receive an interview, offer, or job.

Your content and licence

You retain your rights in your CV and profile. You give Farol a limited, non-exclusive licence to host and process them only to provide, secure, and support the service and create requested output. You can end that licence for the original CV by deleting it, subject to lawful retention described in the privacy policy.

Availability and liability

We aim for a reliable service but may change, suspend, or discontinue features for maintenance, security, law, or product changes. To the extent permitted by law, Farol is not liable for indirect losses or decisions made using an inaccurate posting or generated explanation. Nothing excludes liability or consumer remedies that Portuguese or other mandatory law does not allow us to exclude.

Suspension, changes, and law

We may suspend an account for serious misuse or security risk and will explain when reasonably possible. We may update these terms prospectively; material changes affecting existing paid users receive at least 30 days' notice unless urgent law or security requires less. You may cancel before they take effect.

Portuguese law governs, without removing mandatory protections or courts available to a consumer in their country of habitual residence. Complaints can be sent to hello@faroljobs.com. Information on Portuguese consumer dispute-resolution bodies is available at consumidor.gov.pt; the competent centre depends on your address and the operator's establishment.
