Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a Senior Network Engineer to act as a senior technical anchor for a large enterprise financial services client, growing APAC networks capability, owning the connectivity, resilience and low-latency performance of trading-critical infrastructure across a 24x7 global estate.

This is an initial 6 month contract insideIR35 with 2x days in central London.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own day-to-day network operations and change across the firm's sites, data centres and cloud environments
  • Lead on resilience and low-latency connectivity for trading-critical network paths
  • Lead incident response for network issues affecting trading infrastructure, through to root cause and remediation
  • Drive automation of network configuration, monitoring and validation using Python and Ansible
  • Manage and maintain routing and switching (BGP, OSPF), Palo Alto firewalls and Zscaler secure web services
  • Partner with the London and New York teams to align on global network standards
  • Support follow-the-sun coverage as part of a global operating model
  • Mentor and develop engineers as the India based team grows

What you'll bring:

  • Deep, authoritative routing (BGP) and switching knowledge; able to design, troubleshoot and set standards for complex enterprise and data centre routing.
  • Enterprise / Data Centre Networking in Latency-Sensitive Environments
  • Confident designing, operating and troubleshooting Palo Alto firewalls and Zscaler secure web in production.
  • Network Automation & Monitoring (Python, Ansible)
  • Incident Response for Trading-Critical Infrastructure
