Why a CV for this job?

94% of employers say their filters drop qualified candidates whose CV does not match the ad's exact criteria (Harvard Business School, 2021).

  • They see what they asked for, first. Your experience that matches the ad leads, in the ad's own words, so someone skimming finds it in seconds.
  • It gets past the software. Many larger employers use software that ranks CVs by how closely they match the ad, often before anyone reads them.
  • In the language of the ad. An ad written in Spanish gets a CV in Spanish, even when yours is in Portuguese.
  • Your facts, nothing invented. Your own experience, reordered and reworded. What the ad wants and your CV does not show is listed for you to add, only if it is true. You check it before you send it.

We're looking for a mid-level PHP Full Stack Developer to join our five-person development team and work on the systems that keep Crown Oil moving.

You'll work across interconnected, live production systems covering CRM, orders, logistics and customer management – fixing bugs, developing new features, improving existing functionality and getting involved in larger redevelopment work.

As you get familiar with the architecture and codebase, you'll take on bigger tickets, more complex features and increasing ownership of projects and systems.

We'll help you learn the business logic – you bring the technical experience.

What you'll be doing

  • Developing and maintaining applications with PHP and Laravel
  • Building frontend functionality with JavaScript and Vue.js
  • Working with MySQL, including queries and optimisation
  • Building and integrating REST APIs
  • Bug fixing, debugging and troubleshooting across live production systems
  • Developing new features and improving existing functionality
  • Working across a mix of support tickets, planned development and redevelopment work
  • Taking on larger projects as your knowledge of the systems grows

What you'll bring

You'll already have commercial experience with PHP, Laravel, MySQL, JavaScript and Vue.js and be comfortable working across both backend and frontend code.

We're looking for someone at mid-level who can get into an existing codebase, investigate issues and contribute technically without needing to learn the core stack from scratch.

Experience with REST APIs, Git, HTML/CSS and live production environments would be useful too.

What's in it for you?

  • Genuinely flexible hours – work your 37.5 hours around core hours of 9:30am–2:00pm
  • Join an established development team
  • Work across multiple interconnected systems rather than one product
  • Increasing ownership of projects and systems
  • Regular 1-1s and ongoing development
  • Regular team building and social events – if that's your thing
