Why a CV for this job?

94% of employers say their filters drop qualified candidates whose CV does not match the ad's exact criteria (Harvard Business School, 2021).

  • They see what they asked for, first. Your experience that matches the ad leads, in the ad's own words, so someone skimming finds it in seconds.
  • It gets past the software. Many larger employers use software that ranks CVs by how closely they match the ad, often before anyone reads them.
  • In the language of the ad. An ad written in Spanish gets a CV in Spanish, even when yours is in Portuguese.
  • Your facts, nothing invented. Your own experience, reordered and reworded. What the ad wants and your CV does not show is listed for you to add, only if it is true. You check it before you send it.

About Billington CyberSecurity

Since 2010, Billington CyberSecurity has convened the senior-most government officials and industry leaders to strengthen the cybersecurity of the United States and its allies. Our portfolio includes the flagship Billington Federal Cybersecurity Summit in Washington, D.C., the State & Local Cybersecurity Summit, the Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity Summit, and year-round digital programs. Together they bring together leaders from every level of government, industry, academia and the nonprofit sector to share strategies, challenges, tools and practices.

Position Overview

We're adding Account Executives focused on new business – people who thrive on identifying and landing first-time sponsors. You'll sell event sponsorships and year-round engagement programs across our full portfolio to technology companies in the cybersecurity market, from established government IT providers to emerging startups. Our account management team handles renewals of existing sponsors, so your focus is growing the sponsor base.

Billington CyberSecurity is a fast-growing company that plays an essential role in the public sector cybersecurity market. We have produced the definitive summit for U.S. cybersecurity leaders, their allied nation partners and industry counterparts for 17 years. Similarly essential summits for state and local government and lifeline critical infrastructure sectors are also part of our portfolio, as are small-group convenings and select digital programs throughout the year. We provide full onboarding and training on our market, events and sales process.

Responsibilities

● Build and manage a pipeline of net-new sponsor prospects through outbound prospecting, referrals, partner ecosystems and event networking

● Research the market to identify companies with public-sector growth goals, and tailor proposals to their objectives

● Run a structured, consultative sales process from first outreach through contract

● Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations, proposals and contracts

● Accurately track, forecast and report pipeline and deal activity in HubSpot

● Partner with the account management team to hand off new sponsors smoothly for long-term retention

● Represent Billington CyberSecurity at our summits and at industry conferences to network and generate new business

● Stay current on cybersecurity trends, policy and the federal, state and local government landscape

Requirements

● BA/BS or equivalent experience

● 5+ years of B2B or B2G sales experience with a proven new-business track record. Experience in B2G events, media sponsorships or cybersecurity/technology is strongly preferred but not required.

● A record of consistently meeting or exceeding quota through net-new client acquisition

● Experience negotiating and closing high-value, multi-stakeholder deals

● Commitment to a disciplined, consultative sales process and strong CRM hygiene

● Excellent communication skills, and the poise to engage confidently with senior government officials and private-sector executives

● Curiosity about cybersecurity and how industry works with government. Familiarity with public sector cyber and technology communities – at the federal, SLED, and/or international levels is a plus.

● Strong organization, time management and analytical skills, with a results-driven mindset

● Willingness to travel for client meetings, conferences and events as needed

● HubSpot, Salesforce and Google Workspace experience a plus
