Project Director

Why a CV for this job?
- They see what they asked for, first. Your experience that matches the ad leads, in the ad's own words, so someone skimming finds it in seconds.
- It gets past the software. Many larger employers use software that ranks CVs by how closely they match the ad, often before anyone reads them.
- In the language of the ad. An ad written in Spanish gets a CV in Spanish, even when yours is in Portuguese.
- Your facts, nothing invented. Your own experience, reordered and reworded. What the ad wants and your CV does not show is listed for you to add, only if it is true. You check it before you send it.
Project Director, Healthcare – Aarhus
Do you want to take ownership of one of the most strategic and visible programmes in Danish digital health? As Project Director, you will lead a comprehensive, product-strategic initiative for our electronic patient record (EPR) product, which has the potential to become the foundation for international growth. Sounds exciting? Then seize the chance now!
Systematic Healthcare – a coherent healthcare system
Systematics’ healthcare solutions are used by more than 200,000 users in, among others, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK and New Zealand. Our EPR solution is the core system in a hospital and has been developed in close collaboration with our customers.
Experienced Project Director with ownership, impact and business understanding
As Project Director, you will have overall responsibility for one of Systematics’ most strategic initiatives: an extensive, long-term, product-strategic programme for our EPR product. The programme is closely linked to the EPR solution used in Western Denmark today and is characterised by high complexity, both internally and externally, with many stakeholders including our customers.
The role is not only about delivering on time, price, scope and quality - as our new Project Director, you help create the framework for the program and ensure that both our customers and Systematic realise the expected benefits.
You are the programme’s single point of accountability towards both the steering committee, our customers management and the management in Systematic.
The programme is run as a virtual organisation across tracks such as development, product management, customer projects, implementation and operations. You have no direct reports and therefore create results through influence, trust, clear direction and strong governance. You report to the Vice President for the area and work closely with our customers, Product Management and the leadership of the EPR area.
Your primary tasks will include:
Owning the programme plan, budget and business case, and ensuring a coherent solution and the expected benefits over the programme’s lifetime.
Establishing and driving the programme’s governance and acting as the programme’s primary representative towards customer and Systematic management, including preparing and presenting decision papers.
Actively owning and protecting the scope: challenging new requirements, driving priorities and ensuring an effective change management process.
Owning the roadmap, schedule, milestones, budget and resource plan, and ensuring proactive risk management with timely escalation to the steering committee.
Ensuring delivery in accordance with the agreements and leading changes and negotiations together with our Sales and Legal teams and the Vice President.
Managing a complex stakeholder landscape, internally and externally, including customers and their regional top management, political decision-makers, clinical leadership, partners and internal units, and ensuring that the product roadmap is aligned with the programme’s commitments.
Building and leading the virtual programme organisation across tracks and departments by setting direction, removing obstacles and being an ambassador for culture and collaboration. At the same time, you support the organisational change that the programme entails
You will be based at our office in Aarhus and can expect customer meetings around Denmark. Your success is measured by whether the programme delivers within the agreed time, price, scope and quality, and whether the benefits of the business case are realised. An important success criterion is the trust of customers and management in the programme.
Your competencies and qualifications
We envision that you have 10–15 years of experience in programme and project management, several of them with large, complex IT programmes of similar complexity: multi-year, with several parallel tracks, many stakeholders and organisational interfaces. You hold a master’s degree, for example in engineering, IT or economics, and ideally a certification in programme management, such as PMI PgMP or Axelos MSP.
In addition, we expect that you:
Have experience from the IT industry and with public customers, large public contracts and politically governed organisations. Experience from the healthcare sector is a significant advantage.
Have been responsible for budget, business case and contractual commitments, including negotiating changes with customers.
Have experience reporting to executive management and steering committees, leading in matrix or virtual organisations without formal line authority, and taking part in organisational change.
Have a strong understanding of business and finance, as well as experience in contract and risk management.
Speak Danish as your native language and are fluent in English.
As a person, you:
Take ownership: You act as the owner of the programme, not as an administrator of plans and reports, and you have the courage to say no and make difficult prioritisations.
Lead through influence: You create commitment and results without formal authority.
Have executive presence and political awareness: You are credible at executive level and communicate complex topics clearly and in a balanced way.
Are commercial and customer-minded: You balance customer value with Systematic’s interests and understand the importance of our customers’ work for patients and clinicians.
Are structured, proactive and resilient: You create overview, make decisions on an incomplete basis, and keep your energy and calm throughout a long, high-paced programme.
Are demanding and inclusive: You create an open and honest environment where people are heard and their work is recognised.
Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years as we work with security-classified projects. Read more here.
