Why a CV for this job?

94% of employers say their filters drop qualified candidates whose CV does not match the ad's exact criteria (Harvard Business School, 2021).

  • They see what they asked for, first. Your experience that matches the ad leads, in the ad's own words, so someone skimming finds it in seconds.
  • It gets past the software. Many larger employers use software that ranks CVs by how closely they match the ad, often before anyone reads them.
  • In the language of the ad. An ad written in Spanish gets a CV in Spanish, even when yours is in Portuguese.
  • Your facts, nothing invented. Your own experience, reordered and reworded. What the ad wants and your CV does not show is listed for you to add, only if it is true. You check it before you send it.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Functional Consultant / Test Lead to provide functional consultancy and testing leadership across Oracle E-Business Suite implementations, enhancements and international rollout programmes.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on Oracle EBS R12 Financials expertise and experience across the full implementation lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment and post-go-live support.

This is a dual functional and testing role. The consultant will design and configure Oracle solutions while using their functional expertise to develop test scenarios, validate end-to-end business processes, support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), manage defects and provide assurance that solutions meet agreed business and statutory requirements.

Experience of international rollouts and new-market implementations is particularly important, including the establishment of new ledgers, legal entities and operating units/business units and integration with third-party systems.

Essential

  • Significant experience as a Senior Oracle E-Business Suite Functional Consultant, with strong Oracle EBS R12 Financials knowledge.
  • Detailed functional experience across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Advanced Global Intercompany System (AGIS) and E-Business Tax.
  • Experience configuring ledgers, legal entities and operating units/business units.
  • Proven delivery experience across multi-country, new-market or legal-entity implementations.
  • Strong requirements gathering, functional solution design, configuration and documentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between Oracle configuration, business processes and downstream testing.
  • Hands-on experience of SIT, UAT, regression testing, defect management and resolution.
  • Ability to create comprehensive test scenarios and test cases from business requirements and functional designs.
  • Experience testing interfaces between Oracle EBS and third-party applications.
  • Experience supporting deployment, cutover, go-live and post-production hypercare.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively across Finance, business, functional, technical, integration and programme teams.

Personal Attributes

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Analytical, methodical and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable owning delivery from initial requirement through to production.
  • Able to challenge requirements constructively and identify gaps and risks.
  • Strong at troubleshooting complex functional, configuration and integration issues.
  • Confident communicating with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating within high-profile, business-critical programmes.
  • Able to balance delivery deadlines with appropriate testing and quality controls.
  • Capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a wider programme team.

Oracle Functional Consultancy

  • Lead requirements gathering and analysis with business, Finance and technical stakeholders, translating requirements into effective Oracle EBS solutions.
  • Design and configure Oracle Financials solutions, particularly General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, E-Business Tax, Fixed Assets, AGIS and related financial processes.
  • Configure and support new ledgers, legal entities and operating units/business units for international and new-market implementations.
  • Ensure solutions meet country-specific business and statutory requirements while remaining aligned with the organisation’s wider Oracle template and financial architecture.
  • Produce and maintain functional design and configuration documentation, including MC050 configuration documents and implementation artefacts.
  • Develop configuration migration plans and support controlled promotion through development, SIT, UAT and production environments, using tools such as ConfigSnapshot where appropriate.
  • Provide functional input into integrations with third-party applications, including procurement, payroll, foreign exchange/rate providers and retail systems.
  • Work closely with technical consultants, developers and integration teams to define and validate integrations and customisations.
  • Provide functional support throughout deployment, cutover, go-live and hypercare.

Testing and Quality Assurance

  • Translate business and functional requirements into structured test scenarios, test cases and expected results.
  • Define and execute functional test coverage for Oracle configurations, customisations, integrations and end-to-end business processes.
  • Lead or provide senior functional support for SIT, UAT and regression testing, including country-specific and statutory requirements.
  • Test both standard business processing and exception/error scenarios across Oracle and connected applications.
  • Analyse defects to identify root causes across configuration, application functionality, customisation, integration, test data and business processes.
  • Work with business and technical teams to reproduce, resolve and retest defects.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, functional designs, configuration and test coverage.
  • Support business users during UAT, resolving functional queries and distinguishing genuine application defects from process or data issues.
  • Provide functional assurance to support implementation readiness and go-live decisions.
  • Validate critical configuration and business processes following deployment and continue defect investigation during hypercare.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience using ConfigSnapshot for configuration definition, comparison, migration or assurance.
  • Experience producing and maintaining MC050 configuration documentation.
  • Experience implementing statutory ledgers.
  • Experience within a large international retail environment.
  • Experience supporting multiple concurrent country implementations.

Testing Competencies

The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong quality and testing mindset, with the ability to understand how Oracle configuration decisions translate into testing requirements.

They should be capable of assessing how a business process will operate in Oracle, what configuration and integrations support it, how the solution will be validated, how exceptions and failures should be handled, and what regression testing is required when the solution changes.

The ability to combine deep Oracle functional expertise with structured end-to-end testing is a core requirement of the role.

Seniority and Leadership

As a senior member of the delivery team, the consultant will take ownership of assigned functional areas and provide guidance to business users, consultants and testers. Responsibilities may include coordinating functional workstreams, reviewing functional and testing deliverables, supporting planning and issue resolution, providing input into implementation readiness and go-live decisions, and supporting junior team members through knowledge transfer and solution guidance.
