Why a CV for this job?

94% of employers say their filters drop qualified candidates whose CV does not match the ad's exact criteria (Harvard Business School, 2021).

  • They see what they asked for, first. Your experience that matches the ad leads, in the ad's own words, so someone skimming finds it in seconds.
  • It gets past the software. Many larger employers use software that ranks CVs by how closely they match the ad, often before anyone reads them.
  • In the language of the ad. An ad written in Spanish gets a CV in Spanish, even when yours is in Portuguese.
  • Your facts, nothing invented. Your own experience, reordered and reworded. What the ad wants and your CV does not show is listed for you to add, only if it is true. You check it before you send it.

Covetrus is a global animal-health technology and services leader dedicated to empowering veterinary practice partners to drive improved health and financial outcomes. We bring together products, services, and technology into a single platform that connects our customers to the solutions and insights they need to work best. Our passion for the well-being of animals and those who care for them drives us to advance the world of veterinary medicine.

The Role

We are seeking interest for a Software Developer (internally referred to as ‘Analyst/Programmer’) to join the Development team, reporting to the Development Team Lead. You will work on the systems that support our business across Australia and New Zealand: our customer-facing platforms, core business systems, and the integrations that connect them with finance, warehousing, and partner platforms. We use AI-assisted development tools as a normal part of how we work and you will use them well to write and change code efficiently, so that more of your time goes into the parts that make a change succeed: clear requirements, sound design, thorough testing, and smooth delivery.

Your responsibilities will include –

  • Own small to medium projects and change requests end to end, from requirements through to release and handover (larger initiatives are run with a designated Project Manager).
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand processes and problems, clarify requirements, and agree on scope and acceptance criteria before build begins.
  • Design practical, maintainable solutions, and raise alternatives where there’s a simpler or better way to meet the need.
  • Build and modify features, integrations, and automations across our stack, using AI-assisted tools to work efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms, choosing the most appropriate technology for each one.
  • Test your own work properly, coordinate UAT with stakeholders, and manage issues through to sign-off.
  • Plan and carry out releases and produce the documentation and handover the team needs to support what you’ve built.
  • Contribute to code reviews, team practices, and how we use AI tools as a team.

About You

Ideally you will display –

  • Commercial software development experience at a mid to senior level combined with a solid understanding of application design, relational databases and SQL, and system integration (APIs, file-based and message-based interfaces).
  • Practical, day-to-day experience with AI-assisted development tools, and the judgement to review, test, and own the code they help produce.
  • Confidence working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and manage expectations and the ability to manage your own work.
  • A disciplined approach to testing, UAT, and release, and an understanding that delivery isn’t done until it’s working in production and supported.
  • Willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and languages. Parts of our environment use less common platforms, and we don’t expect prior experience with them.

Desirable:

  • C# / .NET experience.
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Experience working with ERP, warehouse, finance, or e-commerce systems.
