Why a CV for this job?
- They see what they asked for, first. Your experience that matches the ad leads, in the ad's own words, so someone skimming finds it in seconds.
- It gets past the software. Many larger employers use software that ranks CVs by how closely they match the ad, often before anyone reads them.
- In the language of the ad. An ad written in Spanish gets a CV in Spanish, even when yours is in Portuguese.
- Your facts, nothing invented. Your own experience, reordered and reworded. What the ad wants and your CV does not show is listed for you to add, only if it is true. You check it before you send it.

We design, integrate and deliver advanced robotic, remotely operated and autonomous solutions, combining cutting-edge hardware, software and services to solve some of the world's most complex operational challenges.
Everything we do is driven by a clear purpose: enhancing the security, resilience and prosperity of our customers by transforming the way they operate across the maritime, subsea and wider operational domains, from seabed to sky.
To achieve this, we are building a world-class team of exceptional talent united by a shared passion for innovation, a relentless focus on mission success, and a commitment to redefining the future of autonomous technology and intelligent solutions.
We are seeking a Chief Engineer (Marine Defence Systems) to provide technical leadership and design authority across complex maritime, autonomous and defence programmes.
As the senior engineering authority, you will be accountable for technical integrity, system architecture, engineering assurance and design governance throughout the programme lifecycle. You will ensure solutions are safe, integrated, compliant and operationally effective, whilst providing independent technical judgement to support critical programme decisions.
This is a highly influential role, acting as the bridge between engineering, programme delivery, customers and suppliers to ensure mission-critical capabilities are successfully delivered.
What you will do:
- Act as the Design Authority and technical lead for major maritime defence programmes.
- Own and maintain the programme technical baseline, including requirements, architecture, interfaces and configuration control.
- Ensure systems are verified, validated and accepted against customer and operational requirements.
- Lead system integration across platforms, payloads, software, autonomy, communications and sensing technologies.
- Chair technical reviews and provide governance across requirements management, V&V, technical risk and configuration management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable defence, safety, security and regulatory standards.
- Serve as the senior technical interface with customers, suppliers and programme leadership.
- Provide independent technical oversight, balancing performance, risk, cost and schedule considerations.
- Mentor engineering teams and drive engineering excellence across the organisation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or similar senior engineering leadership role responsible for developing a new complex system-of-systems. You should have taken a capability from requirements definition and architecture development through to design, integration, verification, validation and acceptance into service.
- Extensive experience delivering complex maritime, defence, aerospace or autonomous systems programmes.
- Subsea data intelligence or Submarine Delivery Authority experience – highly desirable.
- Strong systems engineering expertise across hardware, software and integrated operational platforms.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing technical suppliers and partners.
- Strong understanding of system integration, verification, validation and engineering assurance.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence customers, suppliers and senior leaders.
